Installing KNX Intelligent Building Control in a Domestic House

  • Designing and installing an intelligent building control system in a domestic house calls for specialist skills: design expertise, electrical and lighting system experience - and the ability to interpret exactly what a client requires to get the effect he or she is seeking. When a design-conscious householder was looking for a complete rewire of a home's downstairs area, that was to utilise a fully-automated system for lighting, heating controls and the security system, specialist electrical contractor SCI Management was the obvious choice

Design included practical requirements - such as allowing lighting in the kitchen and lounge to be swiched independently from anywhere in the house - with need for mood lighting for relaxed dining.

The project began in September and finished in November.

Integrating multiple components into a KNX intelligent building control systems calls for a complete understanding of customer needs and requirements. But it also requires the electrical designer to understand how the system would work with the rest of the house systems.

The project called for GIRA automated systems to be integrated with the KNX software/system.

SCI Management has extensived experience of installing and commissioning electrical, lighting and security systems, in both commercial and domestic premises. The company is NIC EIC approved.
